Kozjak Waterfall: A Short Walk to the Viewing Terrace
Approach Kozjak from the signed car park near Napoleon’s Bridge, reach the waterfall terrace and return, without taking on the longer Kobarid trails.

Kozjak is a waterfall visit with a clear endpoint: the viewing terrace inside a dark rock chamber. Take the signed short approach from the waterfall car park near Napoleon's Bridge, then return along the same path. Leave the longer Kobarid Historical Trail for a separate choice.
The 15 m (49 ft) fall drops into a green pool framed by tall rock walls. Small wooden bridges complete parts of the approach. The final terrace is where to stop and look; this is not a plan for entering the pool. The Soča Valley visitor page specifically says the pool is unsuitable for bathing in this protected area.
Find the short approach
From Kobarid, follow the direction of Drežnica and the turn for Napoleon's Bridge over the Soča. Use the signed Kozjak parking and arranged footpath there. Save the operator's map pin before driving: a pin for Kobarid town or the bridge alone is not the walking start.
The tourism board estimates a half-hour walk from the car park to the waterfall. Returning by the same route therefore needs about one hour of walking, calculated by doubling that estimate, before time on the terrace and other stops. Do not use the nearby 7.4 km Historical Trail or 8.1 km Magozd circuit as the distance for this short visit.
Leave room at the terrace
The attraction is the enclosed view rather than a long panorama. Make space for others at the final platform and allow time for the narrow sections in both directions. Suitable walking footwear matters on wooden bridges and damp ground; if access is restricted after bad weather, the view is not a reason to pass a barrier.
For a current autumn visit, the operator lists 09:00–18:00 from 2–31 October 2026. Recheck its opening information before traveling. The page's April opening text is inconsistent, so a visit at the start of a future season needs direct confirmation from TIC Kobarid rather than relying on this autumn schedule.
Start and finish at the same place
Drivers can keep the outing simple by returning to the car park. A bus arrival in Kobarid adds a separate approach to Napoleon's Bridge; the half-hour figure above starts at the car park, not the town's bus stop. Arrange that connection independently before using it in a day schedule.
If you want more forest walking afterward, choose it by its own map and daylight requirement. Our hike-difficulty guide can help you keep the waterfall visit from quietly growing into a different excursion.
