Checking the route

Yanchep’s koala boardwalk suits a short wildlife stop within a larger park visit. The raised path passes through the managed viewing area so you can look into the trees without a long bushwalk. Choose it for that close-set viewing arrangement; animal movement and visibility still vary.

Go during viewing hours

The official viewing-area page gives daily access from 8am to 4:30pm. Its usual 3:15pm koala talk is suspended until further notice. Plan an independent boardwalk visit rather than timing your arrival around a keeper presentation that is not currently offered.

Follow the boardwalk through the viewing area, then return to the entrance and your parking place. Leave time before closing for the entire visit. Koalas resting high in branches may take patience to locate; a small viewing area is not a promise that every animal will be visible at once. For photographs, allow a pause without turning the visit into a fixed timetable of sightings.

Keep admission and access separate

Yanchep National Park charges standard park entry, covered by a valid park pass. That admission is separate from any cave tour or other booked activity. You do not need to add a guided attraction to make the boardwalk stop worthwhile.

The viewing-area page lists two accessible parking bays roughly 10 m (33 ft) from its entrance and accessible toilets. Use the signed park road and Koala Viewing Area entrance rather than treating the wider park boundary map as navigation. McNess House Visitor Centre is the place to ask about local access or another walk if you want to stay longer.

Check DBCA park alerts before traveling and any notices at the entrance. Pets are not allowed. Keep wildlife viewing on the visitor path, then return to your vehicle or confirmed pickup point before moving to another part of the park.
