The north bank at Schlössli Wörth is the straightforward choice for a free view of the Rhine Falls basin. Choose Schloss Laufen on the south bank when its paid viewing platforms are the reason for your visit. Decide that before selecting a station: Neuhausen Rheinfall and Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall serve different sides.

Two useful ways to see the water

At Schlössli Wörth, the falls can be visited without an entrance fee. You look toward the broad fall from the basin side. At Schloss Laufen, admission includes the Historama and viewing platforms. The official visitor information lists different access arrangements for each bank; the general statement that the falls are accessible year-round does not make every attraction or lift a 24-hour facility.

On the north side, an elevator connects the barrier-free Neuhausen Rheinfall station with the basin. On the south side, the panorama lift serves the Panorama Trail and Belvedere during operating hours. That access does not extend to the south-side shipping pier. Wheelchair and stroller tickets for Schloss Laufen are obtained at the visitor center. If step-free access is essential, arrange the complete station-to-platform journey rather than assuming the two banks are interchangeable.

Use the station on your chosen bank

The official arrival page gives roughly eight minutes on foot from Neuhausen Rheinfall station to Schlössli Wörth; Neuhausen station is a different stop, listed at about eighteen minutes. Return to the same station after a north-bank visit. For Schloss Laufen, use Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall station and return there after the castle grounds and platforms. Check the SBB journey for the exact station name in both directions.

This same-bank plan works without a boat transfer. If you add a boat ride, buy the appropriate boat product and fit it around its operating schedule; do not assume the castle admission includes it. There is no boat service linking Schaffhausen town with the falls, despite how convenient that connection might look on a map.

For a group with different walking needs, select the bank and meeting point together. The mixed-pace guide helps with that decision, but here the key distinction is physical: basin access on the north, castle-side platforms on the south.
