Checking the route

At the Planell d’Aigüestortes, the river spreads into winding channels among wet ground, meadows and black pines. The boardwalk lets you spend time in that landscape without committing to an upper-lake hike. The key is to reach it from the Boí side of the national park.

Do not book an arrival at Espot for this outing. Espot serves the Sant Maurici side; Boí is the gateway for the Planell. The park’s access FAQ distinguishes those two transport routes.

From the village square to the water channels

Use the Vall de Boí taxi association, departing from Plaça del Treio in Boí. Its public 4 x 4 service reaches the Planell, where the circular adapted itinerary begins. After the walk, return to the Planell pickup and take the service back to the square.

The association describes departures in order of arrival rather than a reserved seat on a particular vehicle. Its September–October profile lists service from 09:00 to 18:00. Confirm the day’s final descent before going up and be back with a margin; being on the boardwalk at closing time is different from being ready to board.

Keep the day at the Planell

The viewpoint over the Sant Nicolau valley and the boardwalk are the focus here. Staying with the named circular itinerary keeps you near the return stop. Continuing toward Estany Llong changes the distance and the time needed; it is not necessary to complete this visit.

For someone using a wheelchair, confirm vehicle boarding and the current condition of the adapted path with the association, +34 629 205 489, before traveling to Boí. An adapted walking surface alone does not establish the whole journey’s suitability.

The park’s October 15, 2026 access bulletin listed Boí taxis and walking access open, with the Planell information point closed. Do not depend on staff at that upper point. Recheck the current access notice and the taxi return before departure; the bulletin is a dated snapshot. For the wider journey to Boí, compare the whole connection using the car-free nature trip guide.
