Saryeoni Forest: Start at the Bulgeun Oreum Entrance
Choose a same-entrance cedar-forest return from Namjo-ro, avoiding the parking and transfer complications of a full Saryeoni crossing.

For a Saryeoni visit with your car waiting where you finish, use the Bulgeun Oreum entrance on Namjo-ro. Walk through the cedar forest toward the Mulchat Oreum entrance, then turn back. This is a forest return, not the approximately ten-kilometer crossing between the Namjo-ro and Bijarim-ro entrances.
Choose the entrance before driving
The Korean Visit Jeju guide recommends the Bulgeun Oreum parking area for drivers because there is no parking beside the Bijarim-ro trail entrance. Near Bulgeun Oreum, red volcanic scoria paths run beneath the cedars; the wider forest also includes oak, hornbeam and cypress.
For the named return toward Mulchat Oreum’s entrance, the guide allows roughly two to two and a half hours. Turn near the entrance rather than climbing Mulchat Oreum: access to that cone is normally restricted, with occasional separately reserved official events. Those events do not make it an ordinary walking extension.
For a shorter visit, remain closer to Bulgeun Oreum and retrace your path sooner. Set the turn before starting so that a slow forest stroll does not become an unwanted crossing to the far road. The turnaround guide helps keep the return inside the day.
Exit by the closing time
The current Korean listing gives 9am–5pm, with everyone out by 5pm. Entering late is therefore different from having time to complete the longer return. A 3pm start leaves two hours until closing, already shorter than the upper walking allowance before pauses; choose an earlier start or a shorter visit.
Food is prohibited on the trail; drinking water is allowed. Bring water and plan your meal outside the walking visit. Rain, heavy snow or other severe weather may close sections or the whole trail. Confirm current access through Visit Jeju’s information center, +82 64 740 6000, before traveling.
If using buses, check the actual Namjo-ro stop and return services. Jeju’s road-control diversion notices mean a normal route listing is not enough during restrictions. Return to the same entrance unless you have separately confirmed the far-end transport.
