Biryong Falls: Choose a Waterfall Return from Sogongwon
Follow the Yukdam–Biryong valley walk from Seoraksan’s Sogongwon entrance, keeping the farther observatory and the journey back to Sokcho separate.

Choose Biryong Falls for a valley outing from Seoraksan’s Sogongwon entrance, passing Yukdam Falls before reaching the narrower ravine around Biryong. Return by the same route to Sogongwon. This keeps the waterfall visit separate from the farther climb to Towangseong Falls Observatory.
Two waterfall stops, one way back
Korea Tourism Organization’s Seoraksan guide places Yukdam and Biryong on the route from Sogongwon toward the observatory. The sequence gives the walk its focus: smaller cascades and a bridge first, then Biryong between the valley walls.
At the visitor entrance, confirm the signed Biryong route and its current permitted endpoint before starting. Follow that route, stop at the waterfall viewing area and retrace it. The observatory is not a necessary final step. A duration quoted for a course ending there should not be used as the total for your waterfall return.
Choose the turnaround while you can still return comfortably. Allow for pauses at both falls and the same path back; do not spend the whole available window reaching the second waterfall. Reading a trail description helps separate one-way figures, return figures and a farther endpoint.
Arrive and leave through Sogongwon
KTO lists buses 7 and 7-1 from Sokcho to Sogongwon. Verify the current outbound stop, return timetable and last suitable departure before leaving the city. If arriving by car or an arranged ride, keep the same Sogongwon pickup point for the return; this is not a crossing to another side of Seoraksan.
Ask the park office on +82 33 636 7700 about Biryong access and seasonal entry restrictions before traveling, particularly after severe weather. The KNPS program page names Seorak-dong/Sogongwon visitor support center, but a program listing is not confirmation that the track is open on your date. Respect any entrance restriction rather than switching to another mountain trail without a separate plan.
