Checking the route

Lake Jasna gives you two linked lakes and a mountain backdrop close to Kranjska Gora. Make the shore your destination if you want an outing that can stop when you have had enough walking. The Pišnica approach adds a forest-and-river walk, but one part needs a specific access check before you use it.

Two lakes beneath the mountains

The lakes sit where the Velika and Mala Pišnica streams meet, beside the road toward Vršič. Paths circle the water; the bronze ibex and the lookout tower at the second lake give you recognizable stopping points. Razor and Prisank rise behind the lakes. The destination's lake page also identifies two nearby car parks, a few steps from the shore.

Choose that direct arrival if the lake is the whole outing. Agree on the same pickup point if someone is dropping you off, and return to it after walking by the water. There is no need to add a mountain trail to make the visit worthwhile.

The river loop has a closure question

The tourist board publishes a 2.9 km circular walk from its Tourist Information Centre: through town toward Korona, across Vršiška cesta and the river, then beside the Pišnica to Jasna. Its return crosses the river by the road bridge and follows the path between river and road toward Hotel Kranjska Gora, ending through Dr. Josipa Tičarja ulica.

However, a municipal notice dated October 27, 2023 closes Tiha potka between Casino Korona and Jasna because of weather and safety. That old notice remains online; it does not establish whether the path is closed today. The normal loop page does not resolve it either.

Before choosing the published circuit, ask TIC Kranjska Gora, at Kolodvorska 1c or +386 (0)4 5809 443, specifically whether Tiha potka from Korona to Jasna is open. If it cannot confirm the section, keep the outing at the lakes and use the direct arrival above. Do not turn a closure into an improvised river crossing.

Keep this a valley outing

Jasna is also a recognizable point on the way toward higher country. That does not make a gorge or mountain continuation part of this visit. For a group choosing between a shore stop and a climbing day, what makes a hike difficult helps separate distance from terrain and ascent.
