Checking the route

At Marmore, the time you arrive changes what you see. Water is diverted for hydroelectric production outside the release periods, so a park ticket and a full-flow waterfall are two different parts of the plan. Start at the lower belvedere if you want the broad waterfall view with shorter trails nearby; add the upper belvedere only if you want the climb or have arranged the road transfer.

The October water window

The official 2026 calendar, checked on October 18, lists October park opening from 10 am to 5 pm. On weekdays the water release is noon–1 pm and 3–4 pm; on Saturdays and Sundays it is 11 am–1 pm and 3–4 pm. A sound signal precedes the release, and the flow increases progressively.

For an October weekday, arriving before noon leaves time to enter and reach a viewpoint before the first release. On a weekend, an arrival near opening suits the longer morning release. These are planning choices, not guaranteed admission slots. Recheck the calendar and news close to departure: the operator says times can change, and an event can alter a particular day.

Stay low or take the stairs

The operator’s suggested visit sequence starts the lower visit with Belvedere Byron and Belvedere Secci, then the excursion area. Trails 2 and 3 have one-way circulation. Follow the arrows through those paths rather than assuming you can reverse them to return to the entrance.

Trail 1 connects the lower and upper belvederes through roughly 600 steps. If you start below and walk both ways, the same height must be descended afterward. The upper Specola gives a close view of the first drop, while the lower visit places the cascade in its wider setting. That is a reason to climb, but it does not make climbing necessary for every visit.

The tunnel and Balcone degli Innamorati are not ordinary walk-in additions: the current visit page says they are accessible only with a reserved guided visit. Do not leave that decision until you encounter the tunnel.

Finish at the entrance you used

Navigate to Belvedere Inferiore for the lower-first visit and leave the car in its designated parking. Return through the signed circulation to the same lower entrance. If you climb Trail 1, include its descent before you head back to the car. Walking from the upper entrance down to the lower one leaves a climb or transfer at the end.

The park’s shuttle rules require tickets for each direction and the selected time band. A summer timetable does not establish an October service. Unless you have a confirmed transfer for your date, keep the walk based at one entrance. Wear shoes with grip and carry rain protection for spray; this is a place where footwear matters more than the short trail length.
