Haukankierros: A Forest Circuit from Haukkalampi

Choose Haukankierros for a compact but demanding forest walk in Nuuksio. The current Metsähallitus route is 3.9 km, estimated at 1.5–2 hours, with substantial changes in height. It takes you past Mustalampi and over rocky ground with a view across the Myllypuro valley; its short length does not make it a flat lakeside stroll.

Start at the large Haukkalampi parking area and follow the blue diamonds clockwise. The opening wide road passes through spruce forest toward the smaller parking area and Haukkalampi services. Beyond the yard, the path returns to forest, climbs toward Mustalampi's dam and continues through repeated ascents and descents. The northeast section gives the Myllypuro valley view before the descent toward Haukkalammentie and the parking-area finish.

Add the bus approach twice

For public transport, the park directions identify bus 245(A) from Espoo Centre. Trains connect Helsinki with Espoo Centre. Haukkalampi is about 2 km on foot from the nearest bus stop, so the 3.9 km circuit is only part of a car-free walking day.

The park also describes getting off at Punjonsuo, walking about 100 m toward Haukkalampi and joining the orange-black-diamond connecting route. Check the HSL planner for your exact stop, connection and return. Use the same chosen approach back after completing the loop; do not assume Haltia is at the trailhead.

Bring drinking water with you

A June 17, 2026 notice says Haukkalampi well water still contains excessive fluoride and is not recommended for drinking. Bring enough drinking water for the entire outing rather than relying on the route page's general water-point symbol. The notice lists other water sources, but visiting them would change this arrival plan.

There is no winter maintenance on Haukankierros. Check the park's current conditions before travel, and allow for the rocky descents when judging your return time. Keep pets leashed and take your litter out. Count the walk from the bus stop and back as part of the day; if that makes the outing larger than intended, choose a different confirmed walk before leaving Espoo Centre.
