A neighborhood base

Quito Botanical Garden brings orchid houses, cloud-forest plants and Andean ecosystem collections into Parque La Carolina. Choose it for a daytime walk between planted displays, starting and finishing at the garden’s own entrance.

Enter the garden inside La Carolina

Use the garden’s own address: Pasaje N34, Rumipamba E6-264 and Avenida de los Shyris, inside Parque La Carolina. A drop-off at the surrounding park is only the beginning of the approach. Identify the botanical garden ticket entrance, agree on an onward meeting point and keep enough time to walk back to it after leaving.

Published daytime hours are 10:00–16:00 on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Arrive with time to visit before 16:00, rather than treating that as a last-entry promise. Check current admission categories directly; a special-event ticket on the homepage should not be assumed to include the ordinary daytime garden or extend its hours.

Build the visit around a contrast

The collection guide identifies separate cold and warm orchid houses. Pair them with the cloud-forest collection, where ferns and bromeliads help illustrate the moist vegetation associated with Andean slopes. Flowering changes; the collection is the reason to visit, not a guarantee that every orchid will be in bloom.

For a second contrast, look for the Andean wetland and shrub-páramo displays. These represent different plant communities rather than wild habitats at their original elevations. Read the labels and follow the public paths between the collections you choose. Use the entrance information to establish the return route; this plan does not depend on a particular circuit direction.

Keep access needs specific

The garden says its entrance and the great majority of paths are designed for wheelchair access. Ask staff about the particular houses and displays you want to visit; “most” does not promise every section. Choose by the actual surface and access your group needs. Bikes remain near the entrance, and pets need a collar and a waste bag. Do not touch or collect plants or enter planted beds.

Organized visits, including family groups, have a published two-week reservation requirement. Confirm your arrangement through info@jardinbotanicoquito.com if that applies. Keep the garden’s own exit and the walk to your transport within your day’s plan.
