La Paz Waterfall Gardens: Choose a Waterfall-Trail Day
Understand La Paz’s five waterfalls, stair descent and exit shuttle before choosing the paid park rather than a roadside photo stop.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a stair-and-viewpoint walk along a forested river canyon. Choose the paid park if you want time with several cascades from their built viewing paths. A roadside look at La Paz waterfall gives you a different, much smaller visit.
The park is at Vara Blanca. Its waterfall trail is part of a larger private attraction with animal exhibits, so decide how much of that larger visit you want before fixing your onward drive.
Five falls, several kinds of view
The operator’s waterfall page names Templo, Encantada, Magia Blanca, Escondida and La Paz. The trail follows the river’s steep canyon through cloud-forest and rainforest vegetation, using paved paths, steps and handrails.
The falls are not five stops visible from a single platform. Moving between viewpoints is part of the outing. Magia Blanca is listed at 37 m (120 ft), while Escondida is listed at 5 m (16 ft); a smaller cascade can make a useful change from looking up at a tall fall. Let the different positions beside the river shape your stops rather than searching for one photograph containing everything.
The operator says the waterfall walk is predominantly downhill, but its main park information also describes hundreds of stairs. Descending remains physical work, especially on wet steps. If stairs affect your plans, ask the park office which specific viewing areas you can reach and how you would leave them.
The shuttle completes the descent
The park publishes hours of 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and a final shuttle pickup from the exit trail at 5 p.m. Before descending, have staff show you the exit-trail pickup on the current map and confirm where the shuttle returns you. Your external driver should meet you at the agreed visitor pickup point after that internal ride.
Do not use the final shuttle time as a target to reach by a few minutes. Leave room for a slow stair section, a pause at the last waterfall and the walk to the stop. If you want extensive photographs, start early enough that those pauses belong to the visit rather than compete with the return.
The park recommends arrival by 3 p.m. for its primary trails and gives two hours as a minimum quick visit. That is a minimum for the park, not a generous allowance for every exhibit plus all the waterfalls. A long exhibit visit first can leave the waterfall descent rushed.
Choose what the ticket needs to do
Admission is through the private park’s own ticket channel. Its current price page has a stated validity period, so check the rate for your date instead of assuming it matches a national-park fee. Park questions go to parkoffice@waterfallgardens.com or +506 2482 2720.
For a waterfall-focused visit, give the trail priority and add exhibits only if time and interest remain. For a broader park day, leave the onward drive flexible enough for both. Compare Río Celeste if you want a national-park forest walk centered on one river system; the stair load and return arrangements deserve separate consideration in either choice.
