Checking the route

Rainforest Trail offers two separate 1 km (0.6 mi) circuits through Pacific Rim’s western red cedar and hemlock forest. Choose one for a shorter visit, or walk both if the steps suit your group. Neither is a beach-access trail: the old trees, ravines and forest layers are the reason to stop here.

B starts at the lot; A needs a crossing

Use the small Rainforest parking area on the ocean side of Highway 4, between Green Point Campground and Wick Road. Trail B begins at the back of the lot. Follow its marked circuit and return directly to the same parking area.

Trail A begins across Highway 4. Use the pedestrian-controlled crossing, press the button and cross cautiously. After its loop, return by the same crossing to the car. Walking both means about 2 km (1.2 mi) of circuits plus the parking and highway approaches, rather than one continuous two-kilometer trail.

Both have narrow wooden boardwalks, gravel sections and many stairs up and down ravines. Handrails on elevated sections do not make them step-free. Surface and stairs matter more than the short headline length.

Read the two condition rows separately

The trail report lists A open on September 23, 2026, with uneven boardwalk sections, and B open on September 15. Both carry a wolf warning. Check them again before traveling and obey any new barriers.

Dogs on close leashes are permitted on A and B under the current pet rules, although Parks Canada encourages leaving pets at home during the wolf warning. The bans on several other Long Beach trails do not make these two dog-free.

The Rainforest lot does not permit RVs or buses. Arrange suitable access before arriving in a larger vehicle; the separate walk from Combers adds distance and seasonal pathway conditions, so it is not part of this short parking-area plan. A park entry pass is required; the automated machine takes credit cards.
