Loo-Errn: Follow Tidal River’s Southern Bank
Choose a riverside boardwalk outing at Tidal River, with the one-way timing, full return and park entrance works kept clear.

Loo-Errn is a way to spend time beside Tidal River without choosing one of Wilsons Promontory’s summit walks. The boardwalk follows the southern bank behind the campground, with views across the estuary toward Mount Oberon and the Vereker Range. Choose it when the river landscape fits your day better than a climb.
Allow for the way back
Parks Victoria lists Loo-Errn as 1 km (0.6 mi), thirty minutes one way, Grade 2. If you walk its full length and retrace it, that is approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) and an hour before pauses. Do not budget thirty minutes for the whole return.
Begin on the signed riverside route at the rear of Tidal River campground. Stay on Loo-Errn and return to the same start rather than joining a longer headland circuit. The platforms protect the fragile estuary as well as providing views of the river.
The operator describes suitability for electric or assisted wheelchairs. That is useful for choosing the outing, but ask the visitor center about your equipment and the current boardwalk surface before committing. A mixed-pace plan can keep the shared river visit separate from anyone’s longer walk.
The road journey still takes time
Tidal River lies 30 km (19 mi) beyond the national park entrance. Fuel is available at Yanakie rather than Tidal River. During the current entrance works, traffic management and delays are expected through 20 November 2026; leave room on both the inward and outward drive.
Check the route’s Change of Conditions and the park notices before departure. Other named sites, including Big Drift and Stockyard, have separate closures; they are not automatic additions to this visit. Bicycles and pets are prohibited on Loo-Errn, with assistance-dog entry requirements handled separately by Parks Victoria. Follow the boardwalk back to your starting point before returning to your vehicle or accommodation.
