The Grotto: Plan the Shoreline Return Before the Cave
Use Georgian Bay Trail for a direct shoreline visit and fit the return inside the Cyprus Lake parking reservation.

The Grotto is a shoreline outing with a gravel approach and a rocky finish. For a direct visit, follow Georgian Bay Trail from the Cyprus Lake day-use area, visit the signed shoreline viewpoints and retrace the approach. Keep the cave itself optional: reaching the coast does not commit you to climbing down or entering the water.
Keep the gravel approach and rocky shore separate
Parks Canada describes the approach as about a kilometer of wide crushed gravel with hills. At the shore it becomes limestone rock and cliffs; this final section prevents wheelchair access and shoreline views from the smooth path. Choose footwear for that transition, rather than judging the walk by the parking-area surface.
The hiking page describes a different Georgian Bay–Marr Lake combination as 3 km and three hours. Marr Lake adds rough boulders. Those figures do not describe simply walking out on Georgian Bay Trail and returning the same way. Check the route shape before following a sign that sends you on around the lake.
Make the parking slot the boundary
Grotto parking reservations are required May 1–October 31. The slot lasts four hours, and you must check in with at least two hours remaining. Bring the confirmation and matching photo ID. There is no early admission more than 15 minutes before the slot.
The park estimates roughly an hour for the shoreline round trip. That is a general estimate, not a cave-entry timetable. Carry drinking water and take your rubbish back. Cold water, currents and waves make swimming a separate risk, with no lifeguards.
If the lot is booked, walking Cyprus Lake Road or arranging an unpermitted drop-off is not an alternative. The parking page currently also reports Cyprus Lake Campground closed through October 31 because of bear activity. Do not use the normal camper walking exception as a workaround during that closure. Return to your own lot and leave within the reserved period.
